Audience Research on Film beginings

I interviewed a variety of people to see what there thoughts are on what makes an opening of a movie exiting, and makes you want to watch. I found that it really does depend on gender, but both women and men agreed that having up beat music and scenes of comedy, makes it more interesting and grasps the target audience.

Kick Ass - 9 Key Screen Shots

These 9 key shots stood out to me when i first watched the opening of Kick-Ass. The first one because it was brightly coloured and stood out from the back ground. The second one because it establishes where this film is set, (New York). Third one because the 'superhero' really stands out and tells us what the movie is about.  Forth shot, because it shows us what the superhero is looking at. Fifth one has comedy in it and the audience doesn't expect that the superhero is going to crash. The next one because they tell us the name of the movie. I really like how they wrote it on the registration plate, it is different compared to the usual headings which appear on screen. And the last one because it tells us how old they are and that they are still at school.

Mood Board

Mood Boards are used to give an overall idea of what your movie is going to look like and what colours are going to be used. To make our Mood Board we cut out lots of images from magazines and printed of some images. Looking at our Mood Board I noticed that there is a lot of bright colours used, mainly yellow and purples. This is maybe to attracted and catch the audiences attention. It also are happy colours so that it makes you smile.
